In conjunction with the Iowa Waterfowl Summit VI, the Iowa DNR, Sweet Marsh Unit,
has arranged for a tour of a new acquisition and wetland restoration in SW
Delaware County. This new area, Buffalo Creek WMA, will provide much needed
waterfowling opportunities in a region of the state where the landscape
offers limited possibilities of such restorations.
Greg Schmitt, Iowa DNR Private Lands Biologist, will lead the tour which
will be from 9:30-10:30 am August 2nd. This will leave plenty of time for
participants to travel the 35 miles to Independence and have lunch before
the Summit starts at 12:30.
Participants need to meet at the parking lot on the East side of the
property at 9:30. You must approach the property from the East as 325th St.
no longer crosses the river and dead ends at the parking lot.
