Open water???

Not sure about the rest of the state, but over this way I'd say the ice is maybe 3" thick at most and melting. With all this rain and high temps we are getting, what do you guys think the chances are of the marshes opening back up?? Tommorrow is supposed to be windy as well. I wouldnt mind getting the boat back in the marsh and throw out a big floater spread...Huff

I know where there's some open water

You can't kill them in bed so I know where I'll be tomorrow since Otter didn't invite me to come down and kill that gadwall for the wall.

My neck of the woods, Wapsi is open, Cedar is open and the Iowa is open.

And there are plenty of Ducks around in Eastern Iowa just go and find them.

I checked 4 spots today all had some ice. the rivers were free. so we will be crunching ice in the morning unless we ge more rain tonight I hope.

I checked a few spots today as well. With whatever does still have ice, its pretty soft and weak. If you have to break ice, it shouldnt be too difficult..

nothing like hunting a WIDE open lake on the last day..but there's never any open water or ducks at the end of the iowa season

same here...just hope folks and detect the sarcasm. saw lots of nice flocks. the lake we hunted didn't have an ounce of ice on it either...it was partially frozen last week, but with the rain last night it was all open. heres to trying again for a later season next year
