doubt it will happen even if it is being thought about. they had to jump through so many hoops with the shall issue i dont see this happening. too many tree huggers
It would be great but we cant even kill a dove but we can marry gays WTF :!:
all of the rules and regs are on iowacarry.com. it states that you can open carry but its frowned upon cuz of the negative attention it would draw. it would also skyline you and make a possible target out of yourself and anyone else that is with you. i carry my glock in an inside the waist band holster, cant even see it.

You carry a glock well no one needs to worry then.

I see no need for the open carry. Way to much liability involved in it.
Yes it is true but technically...you've always been able to.

QUESTION: Can I carry other weapons besides my handgun?
ANSWER: Iowa law has not changed in this regard. An Iowa carry permit still allows for the concealed or open carrying of handguns,
rifles, and shotguns, excluding those classified by Iowa law as offensive weapons (federal NFA or Class 3). An Iowa carry permit also
allows the concealed carrying of other non-firearm dangerous weapons such as knives with blades in excess of five inches, switchblade
knives, Tasers/stun guns, or any other dangerous weapon. NOTE: Non-firearm dangerous weapons may be carried openly without a
permit. Non-firearm dangerous weapons may also be regulated by local ordinance that is more stringent than Iowa law.

Like already stated, just frowned upon. A lot of rules change include allowed to carry a long gun uncased and loaded in the vehicle...

483 A- "A person who has a valid permit is not restricted to carry a firearm in a carrying case and unloaded.*"

Open carry being more liable?? That's a funny statement seeing that Texas has been doing it for years. Not sure how is more liable than carrying conceled except the fact that some one more liable to not screw with you. I will say, I personally don't nor do I plan to carry conceled. There are a few individuals out there that seem to think guns kill people and I don't want to have to take the time to justify myself every place I go.

One last thing....there was way more pushed through with the Shall Issue legislation than just the "Shall Issue" part. It would be of anyone's benefit who has or is thinking about getting their license to look into the changes.

Side note- For the life of me I cannot figure out how or why this reject of a govenor we have voted for this. I'm glad he did but with his track record, I'm in awe.

Clearly a last minute bone to conservatives to garner votes. Look, it even got the NRA to endorse him over Branstead, even though the both have A ratings. Stupid.
