When the greenheads get here I would definitely help them out.
If so, maybe they could put you on some pintails and redheads down south. I'll ask them today. You would need to fly ideally to Houston Hobby airport and rent a car. Their houseboat has eight bunks and these guys do like their whiskey after sunset...They also have flounder-gigging around the houseboat at night.

Bullcan, riverton, you guys are a tough crowd to please. You wanna kill big fatheaded greenheads late in the year or do you want to shoot whatever ducks are here now? We get 60 days and 5 of those are already gone.

Like Doug said, best case scenario would be if what happened last year 4 days before season closed here would happen a few weeks earlier. After that front passed, we saw a bit of a warm up. The ducks were here in big numbers and there was plenty of water for them that wasn't hardened up. Had we had another week last year, lots of guys in Iowa (on this site) would have shot many more limits of mallards. Had it closed a week earlier, the best days of the season would have been the typical 'ducks got here after season closed'.

Iam just happy that I have friends to hunt with and good company on the slow days because I honestly dont care if I shoot anything when I hit the water ( god knows I try my best though) and if I dont i just charish that I still have My gun and my freedom to hunt when I chose and that I can spend time with my friend
One thing I always ask my self is " am I really that hungery that I have to shoot anything"

Good to see you have your priorities straight, as it is also Hobo Days this weekend. I've had my share of brown duck shooting for the year so I will be partaking in other activities for the weekend:drinking:
If I didn't have other commitments like driving in parade, I would agree, but it looks like another weekend of brown ducks on top of commitments for hobo days for me :D

I don't mean to get everyone wound up, but I just heard that the Canada geese are on the move in ND. First notable migration of big birds this year. Whether they make it down here or not, that is the question, but this storm has them flying high.

seen birds yesterday migrating as well. nothing too big though. I don't think they will go too far but who knows. As much as I would love fat northern greenheads coming down with this front also, they have a long ways to go until they even see the border. Just have to get after the ones that are around.

Are northern greenheads fatter than SD greenheads?
