I hear ya, we all have them. Three most impactful to me was a nice pond surrounded by trees in a cornfield where I trapped ***** and muskrats, shot ducks and a couple pheasants a year. Now covered with houses. The last houses on the property was put up about two years ago.
Next was some nice backwater off the Mississippi where we had a perm blind that silted in and trees growing now where my decoys floated.
The third spot I fished and hunted. A good deep pond that we caught a lot of bullheads. Cornfield next to the pond, same owner, had a low spot in it that would hold water with decent rain. About 1 acre was never planted. It was off the Wapsi not too far from a public hunting place called Barber Creek to place it. They did some tiling work and that was that. For some reason the fishing got bad, then worse the next year and the following early spring/summer we never caught a thing after that. It has some good timber and butted up to Wapsi. The farm family that owned it turkey and shotgun deer hunted. They never cared we fished or waterfowl hunted we just could not be on property during T&D season.
One thing for sure is everything is always changing!
