Ya the cost of getting started is adding up. I was hoping to get some cheaper decoys and make my own blind.

Find a buddy and split costs, thats how I started. It's easier to buy gear over time collectively than all at once by yourself. Try to get out with guys that have gear too, that way you can pick their brain for what they like and don't like about their own gear. This might give you some good insight as to what you should look for as you purchase your own.

Look for used gear that's in good shape is another way to go. The floaters will work if you're setting up where the birds want to be.
