Dakota paint quality question

2670 Views 14 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  SBEII=1POS
I was wondering how the paint quality on Dakota Decoys compares to the paint quality on GHG's. I am thinking about getting some painted Dakota Xtreme floaters, and I want to know if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with them. Do you think the paint holds up better? Is it worse? Or about the same? Thanks in advance. i would like honest, unbiased opinions from people that have actually owned them.

Bullcan I am going on my second year of hunting over mine and the paint has held up really well, last year I left one in the boat throughout the winter and into late spring. I pulled that decoy out a few months back and it was still in great shape. All of the flocking and painy was still in tack. Forgot to mention my boat sits out all year long uncovered so the decoy was exposed to the elements. I did the exact same test with one of those new pro grade ghg floaters and it is now really sunfaded and the paint has started to chip. So in my opinion you cant go wrong with Dakota Decoys.

Have had dakota floaters for 3 years now. I don't bag them in the boat eather and the paint is holding up excellent. Also have 5 1/2 dz fb dakotas in the trailer and the paint is holding up great on them as well.

I said I wanted unbiased opinions, Adam. From the way you push Dakotas I always just assumed that you were part owner in the company.:p

I've ran big foots for years and am now on my second year with the dakotas. The paint is holding up great and the flocking is way better than that on the foots. I would say that the paint on the foots does hold up better, but there is no comparision in the realisim vs. the two. You couldn't give me a ghg decoy I have tried several over the years and even when you baby them the paint falls right off. I still run 2 1/2 dozen bigfoot goose floaters they hold up great and dont care for the look of the dakota goose floaters. Dakotas duck floaters I've had for three years now and are also holding up great.

I have hunted over many brands of goose decoys and I will go with big foots every time. The main problem I have with Dakotas is that the sun will glare off of them. They are tough and the paint holds up very well, I just don't like my decoys glowing when the sun comes up.

Thank You! We Agree! Leave the clouds, rain, and no wind for the summer.

You really should watch The Duck Society, Scott does an excellent job of showing a sunny day versus a cloudy day!
x2 on the sunny and windy days... Makes its real fun if you can get the sun and wind somewhat at your back
