cowboarding for canadas???

So yesterday as im driving looking for geese i spot a pond about 1-2 acres in the middle of a cow pasture. I look and here come about 40 geese locked on the pond. the pond had about 50-60 on it allready and the cows were right next to the pond and next to the geese. as i sat and watched for about a half hour the cows walked all around the geese and didnt seem to bother them.
Have any of you ever tried cow boards on canadas? i know it works on snows so why not canadas... i may have to try this when season gets back in..

I'm sure it would work...but why? Wouldn't you rather decoy multiple flocks to about 10 yards instead of jumping them and having one shot at them?

interesting - I bet you could possibly just set it up near the pond & hide behind it and use it for a blind vs trying to cover up a layout blind as there is typically little cover around alot of those watering holes. Maybe use a black piece of burlap & a couple poles . Hook the burlap to the top of the cow along the back and neck, then you could put the poles in the ground 3' behind the silloutte and you drape the burlap over the poles and down towards the ground. This would give the "decoy" some depth/3D look and you could hide inside that area.............just maybe???
This would be a great opener for hunting the Illiana skys II. 3 cardboard cows walking up to the pond Timmy Bigtime blowing his cow call, cows drop and then the water swatting starts. Cripples everywhere and when all the shooting is done 59 honkers with 27 bands, I say go for it I'll buy a copy.
Well I kinda agree with the decoying and then shooting but I am not above crawling up a dam and jump shooting a few geese on a slow day. And its great entertainment for kids always moving pond to pond. I would suggest maybe building a cow blind i seen them on tv. And I seen a cow cut out at sportsmans ware house that was made outta the plastic cardboard had hand holds and everything.

Ive got a holstein, my folks purchased a lawn ornament for their yard, a cow with a guy sitting beside it milking it. Two piece, mad out of plywood. The cow actually has a handle on it so you can carry it with one hand and hold your gun with the other. I also like that idea of hanging a piece of burlap off one side.

on this pond there is no place to hide and i was thinking about making a blind out of 2 boards and then hiding 2 guys in it. thinking something of putting two pipes to hold it together..
just a ??? i had as i sat and watched all the birds hittin' the pond..

Dig a pit blind!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm surprised the landowner/renter will let you even shoot near his cattle.

I get turned down 95% of the time when there are livestock anywhere near the area.

the cattle are not there all the time and the pasture is about 100 acres or so and he feeds them about 1/4 mile from the pond..
we wouldnt hunt if the cattle were by it but i was thinking also of using it in the grass feild with some goose decoys around it..

and a pit is out of the ??? no way he would let us do that..

Glad you said it... if that was my cow i would be PISSED !!
i would never even think of shooting towards a cow for a dam goose...
no sence
One of the early Primos Incoming DVDs shows them hunting out of "Cow" Blinds near a pothole in Texas. There was no cover and the guides had taken some old fuel oil tanks, added a head, painted them black and three guys could hunt out of one "Cow". I guess the ducks and geese don't notice the 10 legged cow!
