The Natural Resource Commission will meet next Wed., April 13, at Honey Creek Resort State Park at 10 a.m. Two important issues are the first two items on the agenda: The Wildlife Habitat on Private Lands Promotion Program and the Dove Season. Public comment periods will precede both items.
Again we must show up in numbers folks to counter any and I do mean any anti dove hunting rhetoric.
We must also defend our public hunting access program that we created when we wrote the last additions to the state habitat stamp program/ fee.
On another note MOVWA SHALL BRING TO THE ATENTION OF NRC MEMBERS THAT WE SEEK TO HAVE DOVES ADDED TO STATE CODE: 484A.1 Present Definitions
As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:
1. “Commission” means the natural resource commission.
2. “Migratory game bird” means any wild goose, brant, wild duck, snipe, rail, woodcock, or coot.

484A.2 Fee required.
A person sixteen years of age or older shall not hunt or take any migratory game bird within this state without first paying a migratory game bird fee. The director shall determine the means and method of collecting the migratory game bird fees.
Sincerely,
William j. smith
