This video was sent out to law enforcement agencies across the country, and I believe that it's something everyone needs to see. There is some very good information contained in this video that could save your life or help you save someone else's life.

Can you carry at work? Most workplaces don't allow it.

I hunt with guys that carry, and I wouldn't know it if they hadn't told me.

One of the guys I hunt with has his all the time and I didn't know. Figure we got guns all over, not sure anybody will try any shit with a truck load of hillbillies in camo, but hey....you never know Jack.

I would guess there are a shit ton of ppl packin at places that have a ban on guns. Nobody will ever prolly know until they are in that type of situation to pull it....I'd be OK with begin shit canned for saving lives, and tellin em to kiss it in the middle

My guide up in Alaska carried a .40 cal. I asked him about it. He said, "Well, if we come across a grizzly, would you rather shoot it three times with bird shot, or have me shoot it 15 times with this, drop the magazine, and shoot it 15 more times?"

The thing that concerns me most about "active shooters" and the increased numbers of people that are carrying is the potential to not know who the real threat is. If you get one average looking Joe in street clothes out for revenge in a Mall or something like that and there are 10 or 15 civilians with a concealed weapon, what are the chances one or more of those good guys is confused or something and starts shooting at the wrong guy with the gun?

Now I am not against carrying a concealed weapon but I do think that as the number of people having them increases, so does the need for more awareness and training.

While it is a true reality it is not that worrying to me. Ever been in a bar or party when someone goes crazy/angry? Body language is the biggest key. An active shooter has much different body language than even an armed person. Granted I have never been placed in a situation like this. Even people with CCW are not going to move towards a shooter. In fact Iowa law prevents this. We have the duty to retreat. Until we see multiple situations where an incidence like you are describing happens I won't even begin to worry. But that is just my opinion.

I have seen this video before and it is pretty good. I actually teach this type of program at my place of business, have for about 3 years. I absolutely love teaching it because the people who take the class have no idea how quick something like this can happen. they also don't realize they have the power to help stop it or slow it down. They just think they are powerless against a situation like this, thus they shut down when they really should be thinking like McGyver! There is always an option if you don't freeze. If a class like this comes around you should take it.

D.T.M well said sir! I couldn't agree with you more. I to have the same concerns with all that are now carring. Why I fully support the second amendment it scares me that so many are now carring because they are scared or ignorant of what the true laws are or what MAY happen. I fear with so many decent Americans getting guns for the first time not only will they not have a life time of experience handling guns like most of us do on this web site but they will not know how to properly secure them which will allow for criminals to obtain them threw theft and other means.
In this day and age it seems that so many are getting guns as a political statement or right not because they love to use them in their sports or hobbies.

I believe us true gun owners should be the leaders or the voice of reason with our friends or neighbors and truly talk to them about the real reasons why they may want to own a gun for the first time. Also those of us who disagree with the possible policies being put in place by the government need to act accordingly to the laws. So many of us speak about us "good Americans" still carring because we want to. I'm sorry but we don't get to chose what laws we want to follow such as carring a weapon into a hospital. Just because you proved your point that nobody has known about it for 5 years dosnt make it right. For instance just because I believe I'm not drunk and I drive dosnt get me out of a owi just because I don't believe that law isn't right. As responsible gun owners we need to go above and beyond to obey the gun laws so maybe we can show our government that it can work.

I know this post is long but I usually don't post to many things so bear with me. My other concern is all the talk about guns in schools. I'm sorry but if you believe placing guns in schools is the answer for stopping school shootings then I fully disagree with you. I work in law enforcement, have a wife who is a teacher and two young daughters in elementary school. To put these weapons so close to people who don't know how to use them is crazy. If I found out that someone had been breaking the law because they just don't believe it's right and had been carring a weapon near my wife or children just because, we'll sir it's not going to be a pleasant day for that person.

All in all I'm just asking that we do follow the laws even if we don't agree and in a intelligent manner go about taking the steps to change them. Calling each other idiots and fighting on web sites isn't getting it done. My two cents
