amazing never jammed never had a problem had one for 2 years from hunting in negative temps and 80 degree temps shooting clays. Get one.

Love mine. Recoil is great as well. I'm biased to Berettas but I love it. It's stupid easy to tear apart. The plug extracting is another story. Haha

 

Almost 2 cases of hunting loads through mine this year and she never missed a beat. The last few weeks were in some very cold nasty weather. I like it a lot.

 

mine jams all the time with heavy loads. hafta deep clean it every time. magazine cap cover just busted in two on me one day too. i got a lemon.

Three of the guys i hunt with have them. The first guy had to send his first one back in because it would not cycle it jammed all the time and his second one did tbe same finally his third gun performed ok but he was sick of the headache so bought an A5. The second guys first one jammed wouldn't cycle and had to send it in because something happened inside of it where a bunch of little pieces broke free and were shaking freely in the gun. Got his replacement and to my knowledge it is fine. The third guys gun somehow snapped in in half when he shot where tbe stock meets the action for the life of me I have no clue how the hell that happened. His second has been fine now throughout this season. Just to many lemons for me to ever think about buying one. Nice gun but cant justify buying something ive seen fail four separate times.

 

There was some issues with the first models but I beleive they have all the bugs worked out now. I am thinking about picking one up.

 

I've been shooting the A400 the past 2 seasons from dove's to snow geese and here's my feedback & troubles of the gun that as we know cost's a bit of $$$$

1st shotgun: Had it for about a month or 2 and developed trouble with it cycling 3.5" shells on a consistent basis. And than on one hunt, the magazine cap blew in 2 pieces. Took it make to the dealer and got a new one.

2nd shotgun: Had it for the rest of the 12-13 season and it too had trouble with cycling 3.5" shells on a consistent basis so took that one make to the dealer and got a new one.

3rd shotgun: Same situation with the 3.5" shells last spring while snow goose hunting so send it back into Beretta over the summer. They updated the forearm, adjusted the carrier and added oil to the bolt assembly. Though out last fall, didn't have a single issue with the gun shooting 3.5" shells until the last wknd of goose season when it wouldn't cycle them on 2 volleys (-25 wind chill) but that was also the same day that the magazine cap broke in 2. I put my old Xtrema2 cap on it and it shot fine the rest of the season.

Any of the 3 shotguns I've had have no issues with 3" shells and not a single mishap with those or smaller shells when dove hunting.

Henkiller is the only other owner that I've known that has that mag cap break off other then the dealer telling me they had one case of the broken cap. I'd say the guns not liking 3.5" shells is more common from what I've read/got messaged about over on the refuge forums. My current A400 is in the 80,000 range as far as serial # so not sure what #'s they are now to have gotten the bugs out of em.

If I was purchasing a new shotgun right now, I'd be alittle hesitant to get a A400 because if you happen to get a bad one, you will be frustrated. But if you get a good one, it's a light's out shotgun as it's soft recoil and shoots very fast. Mine was great thought this season until the mag cap broke off.
I believe mine has been fixed and though the whole mess, Scheels has been great for me!

Mine has worked fine 2 season's. But starting to like sbe2.

 

There is no way I would buy one. There are too many other good (and less expensive) guns on the market to gamble with one of these guns.

If I was you look at the browning or Remington ! I shoot a browning gold and it hasn't let me down neither has my 11-87 Remington and it's 20 yrs old. Either that or look at the American model Benelli $1200 bucks on sale at Presley's .

 

You can pick up a new SX3 right now for $999. You won't get the corrosion resistance of the Beretta, but it just might be a better gun.

Have you considered the new 3.5" Franchi? They're $949.99. I'm a Beretta guy so I'm not trying to steer you away from them. My next gun will be a LNIB Xtrema2 to replace one of mine. If I were to recommend a gun it would be an Xtrema2.
