I had to work this weekend so I could not get out. Could have gone today but 80 with no wind didn't seem like a great time to be on the marsh. I got mixed reports from opener, with all this water we have guys in fields are doing well, hit or miss on everything else. Scouted Monday and seen thousands of coot but not much for ducks. Might try this weekend and see what happens. I'm on vacation October 29- November 20th, should be a few good days in there I hope.

So since you didn't hunt, did you scout? We only get 60 days to do this every year, get after it. I wasn't a whole hell of a long ways from you Saturday and we had a good hunt. An absolute smorgasboard of different types of ducks around, especially the types that whistle.

I put a lot of miles on Monday morning after getting the kids to school. I was hoping to hunt tuesday morning but didnt see anything to make me think I should do that instead of a bunch of chores around the house.

Hell, scouting and not finding anything is better than chores. ;)

Took the kids to school and got the boat in the water at around 9am. I kicked a bunch of mallards out on my way in. The water was flat calm. The wind kicked up some and some birds started to move. End with a widg and 2 teal at noon. The ducks all went into hiding when it really started to blow. I was by myself, and should have had a limit but the birds were finishing short and the wind made shooting a challenge.

It's still October but it's going to get good soon. This week should be a good one, the first week of November never lets me down. I'm looking forward to Gads and ducks that respond to a duck call

Lots of the small water have ice on them. Launch your boat after sunrise and find the spot they are keeping open. 👍. That’s my tip for today, I need to buy more ammo it’s been a fun week

Holly ducks right now. We have a lot of ice, but I dont know if I have ever seen this many ducks around during hunting season. Every water spot has a good inch plus of ice. After I get the kids to school I’m going to see what kind of hole I can punch and see if I can’t get a few birds in.
