Mo. River valley waterfowlers should be happy with the zone and the seasons as many more Mo. River valley duck hunters will at last get to hunt ducks later than they ever have.

What should be improved is the start date of the regular duck season in the second segment. It doesn't matter one way or the other but 2 zones should never open on the same day ever. By doing this for the south zone and mo. river zone, you kind of waste the split for the Mo. River zone and benefit from it very little in it's present use.

However folks should in fact talk to their so called regional biologist and yes their Conservation police staff. The opinions from them have weight going into the preliminary discussion that leads up to the NOIA for the waterfowl season. Trust me when I say this.

Mo. River 3rd zone hunters now need to take what they have been given and settle down a little. This stuff you fought for has come now soak it up a little and enjoy it and then move on the second segment start date which is the same as the 2nd segment start date of the south zone.

Give Orrin a little room here Mo. River boys, he inherited a shit show mess and he will need your support and opinions more than you know. But again I direct most of your anger to your areas Regional Wildlife Biologist and yes your regional Conservation police staff. Talk to them and see what they suggested. You might find a lot of your problem isnt with your Waterfowl Biologist but other. Just telling you that as a fact.

You my friend should worry about you. However I dont care what the hell you do in the North zone. Zero. I hunt up that way from time to time and over the HWY but not enough to render an opinion that wold be used to guide your season. You guys know whats best for you.

However the title of this subject did not read NORTH ZONE. Now did it? I didnt say jack about the north zone.

However if I had taken your advice, you certainly wouldnt have seen a lot of restoration projects in your region or new access for hunters for that matter. I just assume you say thank you and worry about your opinion not mine.

HAHA....Thanks Bud for your always awesome opinions for the MO Zone or was it the Gude Zone. or Bill Zone?? either way...you really have advanced the state of Iowa for duck hunting! A zone that only a few can hunt!! wow. an absolute joke of bureaucracy.
Why can only a few hunt it? Is there a border fence you cant pass or something?

OH THANK YOU FOR HELPING RESTORATION IN NW IA. You are not the champion for restoration in NW Iowa...WOW what an ego. I have spoken with the biologist at DU about the Diamond, Trumbull, Jemmerson , draining hogsback, Berringer, swan lake (up coming),........You were not mentioned...were you that instrumental in shallow lake restoration? your name is not on the bill....sorry Bud...yer not all what you think.
I didnt say I was the Champion of restoration, What I will tell you again is that I wish you just say thank you because the last 7 years the Bill I drafted which had two components has been the only revenue available for capital projects specifically for restoration, enhancement & access. My ego is big alright.

Oh I bet you didn't get any information from your NGO biologist about how they drafted the New NAWMP which rewrote the formula for federal duck stamp allocations which based on the formula supported the very thing they wanted bt couldn't for years until they had been able to change the formula which then would be followed by the science they use and changed the NAWCA program entirely to fit with the above agenda which by thier hand TOOK 2 MILLION in federal duck stamp revenues from your region. Nah I bet you he didn't tell you that now did he? I don't have to worry about being mentioned brother. My ego isn't that big. I let the work speak for itself along with the number of acres put on the ground. LOL

I like your post too on teal season ....wow...I mean literally you are trying to get more days for you and less days for anyone else. SO Bud (light) I have to worry about your opinion.
How are my actions taking away days or giving you less days to hunt ducks?
What I pointed out smart 1 is that many in your region don't like the teal season and wish to simply have a 5 day and 55 day season. That's 60 days and done. What I said was to protect that teal season option in the event we ever needed to implement it statewide in all 3 zones. You didn't get that obviously. However if the majority in the north zone don't want a teal season fine, if the majority in the south zone don't want a teal season fine. That should not dictate the loss of a teal season structure in the Mo. River zone who wishes to keep and get as many days as we can. That was another one of my points you failed to pick up.

IF you read MY post I ask only for NORTH ZONE HUNTERS opinions....SO if you wanna reply to me to tell ME to worry about myself I AM....YOU are saying jack about the NORTH ZONE. YOU got YOUR ZONE through the help of a few select retired DNR and a ton of crappy letters...Thank god you don't hunt up here...you are not that great. To all the rest of the Northern Zone hunters please speak up. I am sick of this jerk trying to make himself the king of turd mountain.
No you nipple wit. We use to be apart of the North zone. Go back and check that 2 zone cluster-k out. lol Now there is a reason why we are not part of that zone." INSERT EGO " We couldn't get the majority in the north zone to seek later dates so the only way to remedy that to fit the needs of duck hunters along the river basin was to exit that zone and get the 3rd zone established that did give duck hunters the later dates they sought and the most days afield as we could get. I don't know about your efforts fighting for later dates and such but if I was a north zone duck hunter reading this post, I would direct north zone duck hunters to the facts. 1 we have the latest dates in the Mo. River zone, WE also have the most days allowed. So when it comes to being the so called King Turd of the Mountain. I guess I have to wear it with pride and advise a nipple wit like you, it's not a good thing to piss off a guy who supports your efforts or would help you with information anyway that I could.

But since you call it like you see it, I wish you luck. Honestly I do.

Why? Because I am King Turd of the Mountain and I command it!:D:cheers:

I dont have no in with brass. In fact I think the majority of them know its going to be a bad ordeal if I have to show up and playball. I just so happen to show up with a lot of like minded duck hunters who see merit in more opportunity, later dates etc.

Just remember to anyone who reads my shit. I many say a lot of things that rub you the wrong way. Its not done out of hate and may be a little condescending at times but what that does is elevate your own passion and desire to make shit happen. It dont happen if you just lay down a quit because you didn't get what you wanted quickly or right out of the box. It took us at least 7 years to get a damn zone change and an additional 4 more to get the zone change we should have gotten the 1st go round. But thats the game and we signed up to play ball to the last out. Long fight but worth the headaches and arguments.

Have fun. If it's worth having it isnt going to be easy!

Here is something to consider in your efforts to get to answer you really want to know. The IDNR has a list of those who buy a waterfowl hunting lic in the last 5 years. Get them to send you more than half of their own mailing list from your zone and use that to send those specific questions about later dates. Make it easy make it simple. Yes or No. Then sit down and begin to compile your responses. If you get more than a 10% return ratio you have enough data that can be scientifically utilized to present an argument for later dates. Or you can ask that in the next survey you would like to add your own question to the survey and use that data.

However I have seen the statewide data of the north and south and the ability for change is so narrow that it will certainly be hard to get anything done of relevance. That's just my opinion but I certainly do not bash on your effort.

My good friend Camo gave you the link for that but if you want other data I would say you need to get in touch with IDNR RECORDS and have them e mail you those survey results from all past surveys

The question you Mo River zone hunters have to ask is WHY does the Mo. River zone & south zone open its second segment on the same day.

I already know how to can the present 2nd segment start and put it exactly where it should go. mmmhmmmm
But I will leave that to others to argue.

December 24th. Would be the close.

But 1st you have to find out why the south zone and mor river zone second segment opens on the same day. GO

But they have done it at least once that I know of. I think it was the 1st year we could have had a zone change but due to the deferred response time on the issue we got an extension but they pushed us into the south zone at the time. It may have been that 1st year we did get the Mo. Zone but I know they did it.

I know where the issue comes from and the input on that is law enforcement driven for the most part.

However it is the 2nd year in a row I noted the issue and the 3rd year if I have to cold be interesting. I havent gone off the scale because they did modify the 1st segment to just 2 days and moved them to 2nd half to close the season on a weekend.

But if you guys who hunt that Mo. River zone wish to see a 10-28-17 start date on the Mo. River 2nd segment with a Close date of 12-24-17. You had better send in your responses to the NRC & IDNR requesting they share your input with IDNR & NRC MEMBERS FOR THE RECORD.
