When I did my Lowe 1648 I did one piece 48 wide and cut to length just notched out where the ribs were.

Back strap 22 lbs
Brisket & Neck & Rib 26 lbs
Antlers & Skull 19 lbs

This is a average bull elk for pack out while these donít seem like big numbers...

Dean I went with 1/8 inch. .125 inch it is plenty strong. My ribs in the boat I would guess are 12 inches apart.
After I installed it I got to thinking the bottom of my Lowe is less thickness...
