Lazy and rainy Memorial Day for us. We are grateful for the sacrifice of those men and women we honor today. The wife and I celebrated by cleaning the house and smoking a rack of ribs for supper. As we settle in and turn the tv on I think to myself how lucky we are to live in a country that is free. So I figured I would start a thread where we could share pictures of whatever we feel like. I’ll start off with one from a late season goose hunt on a sandbar last season. I hunted on my own and landed the first 12 geese that flew by and shot my 3. If you look closely you can see my momarsh invisachair tucked away in the willows. It was a perfect blind for sandbar hunting last fall

This one about gave me a heart attack a couple days ago. Went to go hiking with the Wife and put my boot on guard rail to retie it in the parking lot at Swiss Valley.
When I did this I saw a tail of a snake going down into the bush about 3 feet from me and I thought ok, till I looked a little right and this was looking right at Me so I backed up to 6-8 feet trying to see what kind of snake it was.
Without Me knowing my wife comes up behind me while I’m looking at the snake she starts to spray me with Off bug spray and when I heard that can hissing and felt it hit my calf, I about launched and had a heart attack, I had thought the first snake got Me.
Scared the S*** out of Me.
It turned out to be a water snake.
Just FYI Swiss Valley has most of the bridges damaged from flooding and it is a good Trout stream or was it had some serious flooding.

Leech Lake.
Major storm rolled through last night. Lots of thunder and lightning started fishing about an hour ago, nothing yet. Cold front tonight, highs next couple of days middle 40’s.

Dean, he has already satisfied me. He is a great companion! Tonight we learned how to swim before it got too cold for the winter. He was all go, no slow! There isn’t a place he wouldn’t go for me. I know he and I are in for many awesome adventures in the future.
