Ill play devils advocate. We all know water attracts ducks , water and food attracts more ducks. We also cant predict the rainfall. I have a kid that works in county conservation. At his previous job it was his job to manage several wetlands. Did a great job , maybe he got lucky. He's also a very avid hunter so it was in his interest to get it right. Plus he knew what the end result should be.
After he left that county, i went over a couple times to hunt. Mostly a big disappointment. 1 year the boards not in for early season and the next no cover, but a wet year , maybe got flooded. And i know the guy thats job it was then ,good guy ,maybe he just got unlucky.
Its a pretty fine line some years and lots of variables.
I always cut them some slack. Its a relatively low paying job that they incurred college debt to get. But they all had a love of the outdoors to get into it.
Im sure if i owned my own,Id probably be wrong once in awhile.
I do agree that a dnr that should make its own decisions based on sound practices and not on legislative decisions .
would be a better way to manage our natural resources.
I hope that soon we can get the tax increase, then we can start fighting for where it goes. We all have our special interests on that, which is why i think we will never get it,too much infighting. We all got a agenda that dont fit the other supporters.

Not sure what changed but Willow was a lot better last year. They did come in and put down some new rock at the ramp.
