Default If you are looking for warmth in a light weight item

I was a whitewater kayaker for a number of years---at least until my center of gravity shifted but I still wear a one piece long john type of undergarment that has teflon in the fiber I bought for paddling. Unbelievably warm AND super lightweight. In my old dry suit I paddled in the middle of winter when temps were well below freezing and it was the only thing I wore other than a light shirt and pants under the dry suit. I have noticed my aging friends are now so layered they can hardly move when it gets down to single digits. Might be worth your time to look at what the winter kayakers are wearing since the agility that is needed precludes bulk. They may seem pricey but these 'long johns' are well over a decade old.
