Default Idaho bear

Got back a couple of weeks ago from bear hunting in Idaho. My 12 year old grandson shot this monster....biggest one taken of the year with our outfitter.

Several units issue two tags. We were in the panhandle and it was a 2 bear unit.

It weighed 360. A huge bear for Idaho, especially in the spring. Shot with 20 gauge slug. Went 25 yards. My grandson has no idea what he accomplished...lol

Well, the plan was for me to get a rug and he wanted a shoulder mount. Well, I took my bow. We had a decent one in the first night. He got pretty excited. I told him let’s wait for a bigger one. Because of the heat, the bears went nocturnal. We only saw a sow with cubs and three smaller bears. He shot his on the last night. I was so proud of him...not so much for shooting a bear, but he remained patient, kept a great attitude, and developed a passion and respect for wildlife. It was a great experience. But let me tell you, a 12 year old can really test your patience sitting in a stand for 4 1/2 hours. My backpack is pretty big, and he had more candy, chips and snacks than at a Casey’s. Lol
