Liberal ?
Biggest is got to be environmental. Poor water quality , constant flooding, lack of funding for any real solutions .

I only visit Illinois for business when I have to or passing through and then I usually find an alternate route.

A Farm Bureau that will not be Happy till everything is planted. I swear if John Deere made a planter that would drill through asphalt Farmers would buy it.
Drain Tile # 1 way to drain a field to a drainage ditch to a river and take all the Chemicals with the water as well. Not to mention the increased impact on flooding.
Iowa every River between the Missouri River to Mississippi River is unfit for human consumption some time through out the year because of chemical runoff. Quote from Iowa DNR
Then we have the Iowa DNR also saying 7 out of 10 rural well also unfit for Human Consumption some times of the year.

Now the Good News my Wife is a Oncology Nurse Specialist and worked in Sioux City Clinic where the Doctor came from Denver because there is more work here in Iowa so my Wife has Job Security.

Agree with F.b. Terrible conservation practice by the state leading the way.

And with the doubling of our gas tax-increasing by $ 0.19/gal, starting 1 July, I suggest you fill up on the west side of the Mississippi, or it's gonna cost you.

Hell, Ive noticed that it's getting cheaper to buy gas in parts of Omaha vs the Iowa side.
I received a notice from the Missouri department of Natural Resources stating that my hunting license is going up 10 bucks. They haven't raised their rates for several years. Not saying Iowa should do that (they shouldn't cause they don't have anything to show for it), I was just making a reference to a state that knows how to manage their resources.

I have noticed that there are a lot more roads showing wear and tear. Yes, they are fixing some but they need to pick up the pace.

I agree with Dean- Term limits.

Just my 2 cents.

Just FYI riverrat47 there is usually a price difference in Iowa from Eastern Iowa Dubuque to Western Iowa of .20 cents
Dubuque price $2.74 a gallon Sioux City $2.39 a gallon. On 6-5-2019
So yes being close to IL and WI keeps our prices high I believe.

The last I heard was that a few farmers in the area have corn planted. With over 9" of rain a week ago it could be a while before the terraces dry out enough to get around.

Dean, Arron and I were just discussing the future season. I like how he is always thinking of that. There will be a lot of water around the river area but not much access or food which will make it hard unless you are young and can walk in (safely).
