Default Snow geese Feb 28, 2019

A few scouting flocks of snows are showing up along the Mississippi in Lee county, IA. Might be a few weeks yet before we see the snow line move far enough north in the central and western parts of the state.

Just returned from a SE MO hunt. The guys there are saying most birds are still hanging out in AR and even farther south. Might be a while before we see birds in any numbers here. Also saying juvenile numbers are down significantly because of weather during the hatch.

First small flock of snows showed up today at Squaw Creek, talking 5-60 degrees there this Saturday and rain here in SW we got more snow this morning and the Omaha Metro got over 5 inches cancelled schools etc.
It will happen and happen fast we are to have 45 temps this Saturday and rain most of next week above freezing.

Scratch that. We are watching a few thousand come from the east heading towards omaha. Some ducks as well.

Grand Island to North Platte was loaded along the interstate. Heard some after dark last night around Lincoln. Didnít see any in the air today until Stuart/Menlo.

Well there is plenty of water around for them to roost on. I-29 is closed from Council Bluffs to Missouri Valley and 680 into Nebraska is closed due to water over the interstate. Haven't heard about I-29 south but I would imagine its getting close. Plus to add to it they are talking about releasing water out of Gavins Point dam.
