ok, this might be a stupid question. Why is Nebraska part of this? Is it since the land was part of Nebraska years ago. My theory is go pound sand. You had your opportunity to get it back many years ago.

You obviously are not familiar with the area. Nebraska isn't all on the west side of the river. Part of the land in question is NE.

The best thing I can say is for boundaries is take a good hard look at your Iowa paddle fish boundary map. It will show you exactly what is NE and what is Iowa. lol A lot of deer hunters on the east side of the river can now use Riffles. lol What use to be known as Iowa in some cases no longer is that way now. lol Opps. Just a little oh shit now what moment. lol

However I have some TV News station coming up next week to go cover this issue with me on the location in question and I did talk with reporters today from Sioux City Journal and will be doing a radio spot next week on the issue.

I was told by the reporter today that he met with King and he told king we would like to have a meeting to discuss this with him. Reporter then told me King said I am open and willing to meet and discuss this issue. LOL I havent heard jack diddle from his Office on the request I made a few days ago.

The reporter also told me the Tribe said it would still keep the refuge as it is and not develop it for any other purpose. I said really, did they give that to you in writing? Will they invest money into the present management to maintain the refuge as it is today? How or who is going to reimburse Iowa & Nebraska sportsmen for said revenues it has spent over the years to maintain and manage the refuge to what it is today?

I also confirmed with the reporter when asked is there anything else that should be done and I said hell yes. The IDNR may claim it has no dog in the fight when it comes to the potential transition of property but they do have a Financial Interest in the argument so yes they have a dog in the fight to find out when and who and how are they going to get reimbursed for the sportsmen s revenues they have spent in all the years they have managed the area? I said the Governor needs to act on this matter as do the IDNR. Stay Tuned I am just getting started.

Stay after them Bill. Keep us posted when and where we need to show up, if meetings materialize. Whatever's needed to trash this proposal from Reps. that have blatantly shown us they don't give a damn about the Iowa or Nebraska Sportsmen. People need to remember this the next time these dipshits are up for reelection; I will. The DNR needs to quit standing in the corner with their hands over their mouth and push back for the 40 years of management, up keep, and facilities that Iowa sportsmen have helped pay for there. Not to mention the donation of equipment and other expenses like running circulating pumps from the river for level control, at their leisure, from area businesses for the sole purpose of providing recreational activities for everyone to enjoy. The governor and DNR need to remember that and demand that money be either compensated back to us or drop the whole thing. If the Indians want it bad enough to push this as far as it needs to go, then pay that money to us after, then go ahead but it's not going to be cheap. They should have to go through all the channels before some dipshit in Washington, supposedly representing Iowa, can just give it away at his discretion for an Indian golf course. Thanks for all that you do for us man; a lot of people are behind you on this. Tell the Indians to go further south and golf on their freaking reservation; leave the waterfowling alone.

Like I said the reporter told me he had talked with the tribe reps and they said they would leave it as is. However does that mean not a dime spent to manage the refuge area for waterfowl? Does it mean they open it up to all hunting during the waterfowl season and if so , so goes the whole idea of the refuge? What exactly are they going to and not do as it pertains to that?

I guess what pisses most folks off here is nobody requested a meeting with the regions sportsmen to find out what concerns sportsmen may have about a potential land transfer. The Tribe hasnt done it, the Corp hasnt done it, congressmen king hasnt done it and the IDNR surely havent done it. So it is highly with in reason to suspect the wrath of the Sportsmen on this matter.

But I do have to ask you folks this and I am serious. If the land transfer does happen what do you expect the Tribe to do going forward with the waterfowl refuge area? What do you expect them to do?

I will make some calls this weekend to try and hash out a midweek meeting date time and place and request Tribal leadership on the matter attend along with Congressmen King and yes our very own IDNR WHO ever they may send on the subject matter.

PB its not a rumor. That is a fact. This whole deal is about getting enough land so they can do it. Period. They said they would leave the refuge area as is. Is that in writing? NOPE, Is there anything in writing that will say they will spend 10k annually to maintain the present management strategy? Nope, Is there any mention as to how the IDNR , Iowa, Nebraska sportsmen obtain reimbursement of revenues it has spent on the management of the facility and said area in question? NOPE

The golf course is not a Rumor as this whole deal is nothing but all about that.

I did call his Sioux City Office today and asked Sandy for him to call me to discuss financial investment issues sportsmen have with said proposal and the future management of said facility in question. I also requested we schedule a meeting here around the facility so he can address the concerns of the recreational sporting community who utilize the facility. Now for the second time I wait for a return call.

The 3rd time I will go to his location.

Not a rumor, I have heard of this for years in our area. I had just never heard if they had decided on a spot until now.

If anyone has any hard info behind the golf course plans - consults, plans, drawings, anything other than hearsay I think I can help. Worth a shot, but so far nobody can produce anything other than rumors.

There is so much going on here. I think your heart is in the right place Bill but you are missing somethings. Just because people are talking about it doesn't make it a fact. If in fact this is a true story, plans, permitting, etc should all be fairly easy to come by.

I don't believe that the Congressmen who are sponsering this would be doing so if they didn't think they were about to lose in court. All it takes is one activist judge to say that the government screwed this up long ago, and poof, you are paying hundreds in millions in damages. Think I am wrong? Look at the lawsuits against the Wisconsin government where the Native American Tribes essentially have the state held hostage on the expansion of gaming due to a compact the last dumbass governor signed.

Same with any form of payment for the past investments. It would be great if the state of Iowa could see their investment returned... it wont happen. Do you want the State to lose its investment that it has already made, or do you want it to lose that plus 20 times that in future investment? Thank your fine former President's Obama and Clinton for chalking the courts full of activist judges.

Finally, about a Congressman calling you back. Yes, they are our duly elected Representatives. Do you know how many people they represent? At last census it was like 660,000 people. If a member of Congress returned every call any time someone called, wrote, or emailed they would never sleep and it still wouldn't happen.

Good luck. I hope it stays in the control of the State and DNR, but this may be a losing battle... possibly dating back to 1858 it sounds like.

Any of the above would make it a fact. It could still be true that it is being discussed, but it would be hard for me to take it seriously if this is nothing but an idea that is being floated by the tribe.
