An increase wouldn't bother me but:

There needs to be some sort of general use license. People that hunt morels or go on state grounds for photography to people that put their ski boat on the lake all need to pay for increased conservation efforts.

Agree 100% !!!

And a license fee increase will add value to the rivers I fish and WMA's I hunt how? Just another government agency wasting money because they can...

jmatura MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ THE HABITAT STAMP SECTION OF RESIDENT AND NON RESIDENT FISHING & HUNTING. You will see a boost to 2 key programs that do exactly as you would want them to.

If you need help reading that portion of the Bill you let me know and I can point that to you in the title.

$8.6 million, if people can or will continue to purchase a license. According to Rep Todd Pritchard there are no other options. Isn't that why a majority of voters approved the Natural Resource and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund? Work on finishing that AS ORIGINALLY APPROVED.

I've been for raising it for years. That law the legislators jumped on to sign
years ago was a joke. They knew it would never meet the criteria that it would be put into effect. If we just want to maintain what we have this better pass. Of course, I want a state park user's fee to but suggesting that raises all kinds of H.
You better realize that there won't be any NEW hunting areas ever. They can add on to existing ones but no new ones.
It's going to be tough getting this one through. People will claim it is a tax increase.
Of course, another way to increase funding is through better ENFORCEMENT, if you know what I mean. Maybe the state would get that money and not the DNR though.

Stormer the Conservation Funding Bill you speak of was never really about you the sportsmen or habitat for that matter. That mantra was given so that strong advocates like sportsmen could push it. Now that the game is down the road what you thought it was about was never really the case and how it will end up will prove my words to be spot on the money. Yep you will be pissed off. They needed sportsmans votes to carry it. As you also know, most folks in Iowa are not active in legislative policy and most hold an attention span less than 2 minutes.

FEATHHD, you seem to have very serious concerns over this funding bill as is. May I ask what your beliefs are of where the money will end up?

Bill right? As much as I would like to see new public lands purchased by the DNR they can't even effectively manage the lands they currently own. And if they have more money would they? My personal belief is no...

So if they were to put the money to good use I would support fee increases...

I have to disagree as I was involved from day one as well. It was outdoor enthusiast looking to capitalize on a program our sister state to the south MO was reaping huge rewards from, this was pushed from the bottom up by sportsman, we were not lead to the trough. It wasn't until those greedy bastards figured they could redirect the funding to meet there own personal agendas it got all screwed up, just like they do to almost every program. REAP is another example and the same reason we are looking at an increase now because of the huge budget cuts in Des Moines going on, DNR is one the first places to get hacked.

How many years since REAP was created in 1989 has it been fully funded as intended? Last I knew 0

Remember folks these large budget cuts have been going on for quite a few years now our elected leaders steal from our Natural Resources yet we continue to say the DNR is doing a horrible job. Considering Iowa is at the top of the food chain when it comes to land cost and power of the farm bureau influence it further complicates everything.

ITS ALL POLITICS and we the voter let it happen.

I think its only like 6 million raised from fishing license sales a year, doesn't seem like a lot to me for the whole state, much worse revenue for waterfowl license sales to be used.

What does someone expect for $15 now, so I wonder what your expectation is if you pay $25

I am sure if we lowered employees wages we would still be able to draw some of the smartest minds in the field, ask a teacher...... NOT
