Default Mid Season Update

How's everyone been doing out there? I've been seeing lots of geese, but limited ducks on the river, was wondering if everyone out there is seeing the same thing?

I am up by Guttenberg, haven't taken a trip to Green Island yet.

Been a pretty decent year for us with ducks. Been up around Harper's Lansing and new albin.

Kind of lousy. Sat all afternoon at Riverton on Saturday to watch 3 ducks fly by at 5:05. There were 7 boats out and only one group shot 5 times. The report stated 19K ducks but the ducks are very stale. Hopefully this front coming thru this week will wake them up.

I'll second that. Very stale ducks, and the geese around haven't moved out of town yet.

Saturday in NW Iowa must have had some new birds come in as had a few groups decoy easily (mallards, gadwall, woodies). Sunday was the exact opposite everything wanted to land out in the middle and even as new groups came in they landed away from the live ducks already on the water.

Real similar to last year but even a little worse. Not many ducks, around at all. 4-5 weeks left is all.

Haven't been skunked yet so thats a plus, knock knock.

Having some luck with gray ducks so far this year with a few mallards thrown in the last few weeks but you better not miss your chances cause they are rather quick hunts then you might as well go fishing.

X3 hunted Public Sunday, birds would circle once or twice and move on.

you actually had birds circle?
as of Sunday that would have been at least a moral victory for me.

Between poor migration, misfires, and poor shooting this has been one of the worst years for harvesting ducks for me but watching my oldest get his first shots during youth season made the year for me.
