I am new to duck hunting. I got a zink atm call and am struggling to get a good quack out of it. Mostly because I don't know how to call properly. Are there any really good videos out there to watch that could help me along. I know it wont happen over night but I would like to begin learning and becoming proficient with a call.

The biggest thing to get down is a simple quack. When I want to do a quack, I say "wit" into the call. Doing so will get you the quack that you want. There are multiple videos out on youtube that will go more in depth about putting quacks together to get a certain call.

My advice is see if you can find an rnt foundations for success calling cd.. that's what I learned on, it starts from the beginning and walks you through step by step to becoming a better caller.

There are several guys on here from the Des Moines area that I'm sure would be willing to help you out. Some of them are rather exceptional duck callers.

The best overall advice I could give is bring it along with you to work everyday or where ever you go after you have learned the basics of how to make a good quack. Thats how I learned and got good at it. Everyday on my 35 minute drive back home I would just start calling and it didnt take too long to catch on with that much time to burn. I still have the call in my truck and blow on it all the time. Its just a cheap Foiles call I had but it still helps to keep you tuned up.

For a beginner, the easiest call I've found is a call made by Illusion. You can almost talk into it. You say Quack and it comes out Quack. Easy to blow and with practice you can put together good sounding Hail calls, hen quacks, feeder and come back calls. Best thing to learn is to know when to leave it in your pocket. After hunting across from Lake Odessa for 30+ yrs. I've heard some very good examples of this. And have LMAO.
