I"ve decided to go this year and set up a booth. Its been several years since I have been a vendor. So stop in and say high at River Mallard Calls. a few new call that I will have there.
Too many people with too many bullshit stories in one place for me. 1-uppers are very prevalent. Very rarely hear of anyone that "struggled" through their season.
One year, I told this dude who was just an acquaintance, that we killed over 800 ducks that year............Would you know, his group killed close to 1000 :cheers:
I think you best bet is to get there early, get a table in the calling room and just mop up all the raffles they have. Always good stuff in there!
Pretty sure thats when the event lost its host, Izaak Walton in Davenport Rick Sharp, and the event was homeless for 2 years until picked up by Bernie Boyle (RIP) and its current host home in Burlington.
I can't remember if the raffles go all day or what. I'm taking my boy down there so he can watch. maybe I'll see a couple of you down there. Good luck to those in the contest.
Someone needs to do a study. How many guys wearing GHG beanies, how many guys wearing zink t shirts or sweatshirts, how many guys wearing habitat flats ball caps. it would be interesting to see the percentage. There's nothing wrong with any of that, I just would like to know how many guys have bought those products and wear it regularly
Thanks JJ, I will give you all a big clue as to my identity. I will be wearing a bright orange shirt that says "Nurses can't fix stupid, but we can sedate it!"
I could be wrong, but the person that won the Iowa State in 87 did NOT compete in Stuttgart that year and did not give sufficient notice of why so Iowa was sanctioned for 2 years following the non-representation.
Todd, I think you are right. 1987 was the year the Iowa state contest was held at Vets Auditorium in conjunction with a sport/show and was sponsored by Red Rock Game Calls(Tom Weigel).
Well what did everyone buy? Ended up picking up a couple lynch mob calls. But I bought them at the fowl fighters booth. And a six pack of Busch light.
