Near Spencer on a local marsh I found 19 traps, 4 of which had dead rats in them that were clearly trapped in the fall. There are more traps out there as well.
I know the name of the man, and that he is in his 60s, but I can not find a number. If you think you know this man, and he had a medical issue or something like that PM me, and we can get those traps out of there.
If you set these traps and forgot, got lazy, didn't want to deal with ice or what ever other dumb reason don't contact me, contact the DNR and I will be happy to release the traps along with the pictures as evidence.

Thanks

I think that was list under the "dumb reasons" category.

It is a possibility, I don't trap so I do not know a whole lot. But when I find a pole in the water with a set large conabar ready to rock when I'm training my dog I get nervous.

I called the number I found online for the guy this morning and have not heard back, could not find his name in obituaries either. His set ups all seem really nice, and with it being this late in the spring I would think if they got iced in, he would have been getting to them by now.
I'm going to pull the rest later this week if I don't hear anything, I don't want any geese nesting on rat huts getting caught in a trap, or worse a dog out training.

Just trying to do the right thing, there is a lot of money out there.

Guys like you give sportsman a good name! Thank you for this and I have seen what happens when traps are left out after season. Me and my roommate rescued a goose last year that got its foot caught in a #4 double long spring beaver trap. If I wouldn't have drove by and looked down the river this goose would have killed itself due to exhaustion. When we pulled it out it didn't have enough energy to fly out of our hands. I don't know if it survived but we tried. I would hate to see this Happen to a goose or like you mentioned a dog.
