That's what I was told also, but I'm not sure of that. We will usually get the kill bug when it opens back up and go stack a few up. Had a raven or 2 in the decoys once(I think...2 that were twice the size of the others) and let them pass

They have a season because they're migratory and Mexico wanted to protect them. I guess they're some type of official bird there.

If you aren't shooting within 1 minute of turning on the caller you probably need to move and move often. Sometimes 1oo yards will get you more shooting.

You have to stay hidden really well.
Those suckers can pick you out if your not camoed up.
When the stars line up,crow hunting can be a lot of fun.

Tried crow hunting last year to pass the time between honks and snows and it can be fun if the crows are around.

They just like to wake up and go fight

The 2 things that we learned is they can see like crazy so make sure not to move and if not much is around after you shoot a few, move cause they get wise to the e-caller quickly.

Here are some decoys I made using 3/4" foam. Then, I use a metal coat hanger to stick them into the ground. I usually set about 15-20 of them out on the edge of some evergreens and have a hay day. I use the FoxPro Wildfire II. I've had really good luck in the mornings, just before sunrise and into the morning. They'll come if they are in the area.

One day this first season on them, sometime in November... I picked up my set to go home, made it about 10 miles and saw a group flying... I sped up and cut them off, jumped out grabbed the e-caller and remington 1100, walked 30 yards from the truck and knelt down... Blasted the "Crows 2" call and they turned like a flock of cupped mallards. Picked two of them off that time. Once shot at, they usually tend to fly away.

Good luck, looking forward to hearing success stories from ya.

Ever in the QCA, let me know... I'm always down for a crow bust!

I heard of throwing ketchup on the snow and putting decoys around the red snow makes them come in fast

Had a lot of success with 7 or 8 decoys, a fox pro, and something red to lay/put in the snow. They love roosting in cedar trees. As everyone already stated, make sure you are hidden or they will see you! Also had awesome shoots sitting over fish scraps and carcasses as well.
