my buddies that trap used to just fill a 5 gallon bucket full of warm water and then wash it with dawn and shampoo it

I'm one of tealman buddies he was talking about. i actually skinned it out ha and got offered a job at the fur buyer. what we did was get dog shampoo and just soak them for a day usually its colder out when we get them so the pelts are still good. but after you soak them you want to hurry and get them dry or the hair starts falling out. but i ended up getting about 15 bucks for the skunks and thats not bad. But your clothes will smell. ha

I trap a lot. If your looking to sell it... Than keep on driving. They aren't worth anything, even if you skin it wash it and put it up. Not worth the time and effort. And it's not the right time of year to get fur... And I think it might be illegal to pick it up and keep it without a furbearers license
