I haven't hunted Odessa since they did away with the draw. The aggravating part of getting rid of the draw was that they didn't even bother to raise the price of the draw or boat fees. If they had, people would have paid a little extra to continue with the draw versus the mess it has become now. I would like for them to bring the draw back at a sustainable cost and eliminate some of the old stakes to lessen the competition a little. There were too many stakes back during the draw in my opinion and now with no draw it sounds even worse. That or try closing it down completely on Tuesdays and Thursday or after 1 pm(except weekends and holidays) to let the birds rest some, other states try all sorts of progressive approaches to improve the hunting, I'm not sure why we can't give some other ideas a shot too.

I don't care if they were picking up geese that lay golden eggs, not only is it stupid it is dangerous. We had a couple guys walk in on us in flooded timber down there this year. They didn't know we were there and we didn't know they were sneaking around in there. Could have been a disaster.

been hunting down there for many, many years. BRING DRAWING BACK!!!!! It makes it more fair for the people who are starting out and have a little boat with no or flimsy blind, a dozen of old, used decoys and no heater. tough to do a midnight run like that. next, consider closing down "A" area at 1PM. The majority of hunters I spoke to are in agreement with the drawing process and I think it is time to initiate a formal procedure to see this into fruition.

That place has had so many accidents I can't believe, OH WAIT no it hasn't, pretty good historic safety record.

OMG god forbid someone tries to use a public area outside Jerry's proffered time frame, how dare they what a joke, I know an 80 year old guy down there thats only going out when its light enough for him to see. They call it public hunting for a reason get over it or go private

Wait till the crappie fishermen figure out the A area is no longer a closed zone.

Gee, seems I remember a certain person on here complaining about Miller doing that exact thing in the A area when there was still a draw. I guess it only matters when they do it to Tom.

Whether the safety record of that lake is perfect or otherwise makes no difference when somebody is doing something unsafe. It only takes one time. And there is a huge difference between somebody driving their boat out after light and someone sneaking around in the flooded timber where people are hunting and neither party knows each other are there.

You just described every public hunting area there is and about every turkey hunt I've been on let alone duck hunting.

I wonder how Arkansas does all that wondering around looking for timber holes in a safe manner without putting everyone in danger .

Thanks for the laugh

CHARGE A LAUNCH FEE FOR THE TOTAL NUMBER OF SPOTS ALLOCATED. tHE FEE SHOULD HELP PAY THE DAILY COST OF SAID OPERATION. CASE CLOSED. DUCK HUNTERS WANT IT DONE, THEN THEY WILL Pay for the mANgement they seek. The DNR then couldnt use operational fees as a reason for not doing it.

Case Closed. However under the present adminastration who continues to financially gut the IDNR many might be pissing into a 60mph headwind just to get wet. I do wish you guys the best of luck.
