Default Where to sell furs?

I know it is way early for 2012, but anyone know who to contact or go for selling fur this coming season in eastern Iowa around QC area? I will travel some.
While cleaning out my shed I got my old traps out and started thinking my son is old enough to get started this fall and is interested. I only have 2 acre lot with a creek through it but my nieghbor will let me trap as well so we can get a decent managable coon line going together along with everything else. They are thick and need thinning anyway. When I trapped a dealer used to come through the area at set places and we would sell to him but after talking to local sporting good stores no one knows anything about this anymore. Been a while since I trapped and looking forward to doing it again with my son and teach him something new and get him a little money as well. Thanks for any input.

Groenewolds is the easiest. They travel around the midwest, so you should have to drive over 20-30 miles to reach the closest buying location.

I would agree on the Groenewolds.

ya prob. groenwold in that area. If you are in the NE part of the state was going to say head to Fredericksburg. Harvey Drewlow buys furs as well and I know a guy in Tripoli that will ship them to the auction if they are finished.

We sold at Kabele's this weekend and were quite pleased with prices, if you ever get a chance I would go and talk to Eddie, very few people know so much about the business.

I started shipping mine to auction a couple years ago and it ended up being a lot easier than figured.
Groenwald is all right, your going to want to choke him or hug him. Seems like you can bring him your best stuff and he rips you off, the next time you can give him your crap and he pays top for it. Growing up when furs were hot around here I didn't have a problem finding buyers, now there isn't hardly any.

Thanks for the fast responses guys, I really appreciate it!!

It has been about 20 years since I trapped while in high school and a couple years after, but still have everything in working order but was stumped on selling furs. We will not be selling green fur. I did do some research but figured I would get some better feedback here. Most of my traps are Montgomery and I sorted out the best 1-1/2's already but not going to set a lot so we can manage it along with ducking. I know it is a ways away till next year but going through my gear and old pictures my son is very excited, and I am a little bit as well. I can tell already this is not something he is going to forget about come fall.

THANKS!
