Default Getting ready for the season

Well trappers, Were closing in on the opener. traps all fixed? dyed, waxed? sifters ready trap shovel need a soak to tighten the handle?
lures ordered bait made? snares dyed? wire dyed and waxed ?
So many things we do as trappers to prepare for our season. Its not as simple as scouting ducks or sliding out a gun putting a vest on and go.
I love trapping and I do water trapping dry land ditches. And i do it to make some cash. I dont sell my fur to buyers I tan it and sell it at flea markets and farmers markets. I tan it stretch it and tumble it then sell it to people who want fur on the walls. Its been pretty good I never have my stock long and it moves well. i get 75.00 outta yotes 50 outta coons and I get 100 outta beaver rounds and ovals skunks 35.00fox i get 50 now i take that back I do sell rats to a buyer I dont target them to much anymore unless the price is up. mink 35. I do a lil more work but I turn a good profit and it gives me something to do. I also do critter control now I mostly get referred from farmer to farmer and its not a real money maker but it gets me inside the door to find marshes or nice timber to hunt I usally offer to trade my services for premission to hunt...unless its at a leased hunting property then I will charge them ...LOL.

Its a hobby for me since I sell to a buyer. It does help get onto farmers ground though. My son is 10 now and looking at getting him going in it a little more this year. Good luck to ya this season.
