Sure you can. Cases of Fasteel for $109 at Cabela's!
Not saying this about anyone on here, but I do find it funny that people will skimp on one of the top things needed to actually kill the birds and go for the cheapest of the cheap, but will turn around and spend $500+ on calls, hell, some even buy multiples of the same call, just in different colors jus to swap halves and make new color combinations. Who the hell wants a bubble gum pink and lime green call anyways.
Do you need the most expensive shells on the market? Not at all. You need what patterns the best out of the gun you are using. |
Post a link where I can order 3 inch 1 1/4 or 1 1/8 oz. kents for $109 dollars without paying $15 for shipping.
I use to shoot Kent because they patterned better for me than other shells. I use to hate experts but I bought a box one night in a pinch when they were the the only thing I could find to hunt in the morning. They seemed to work just fine. I killed alot alot of geese with 3 in 1 1/8 oz #2 experts this year. If a cheap shell fires every time I pull the trigger, patterns well and kills birds dead when they are in range why would I want to shoot more expensive shells?
If you have a shell that patterns half way decent and you hit a bird that is in range just about any shell should do the job. |
I bought 2 cases last year at that price from Cabelas. I don't pay shipping when I pick em up off the shelf. I shoot 3" 1-1/8oz #2 for the most part.
I agree, no need to shoot fancy stuff if you have a load that patternes well but too many people simply go with a low end or a very high end shell because they think they are saving money or only expensive shells work, yet they never pattern to see what they are really shooting. |

My favorite shell brand is Kent FastSteel and HeviMetal. This year I might try a couple of boxes of the new Remington load that is 1700 if it patterns well out of my Xtrema2.
For Faststeel on ducks, I use 3" 1 1/8oz 2's and 3.5" 1 1/4oz 2's and then 3" 1/4oz 2's and 3.5" 1/2oz 2's in the HeviMetal. Both loads do great out of my Xtrema2 and Wad Wizard chokes.
For geese, I switch up to only 3.5" 1 1/4oz 2's and BB's in Faststeel and 3.5" 1 1/2oz 2's and BB's in HeviMetal.
I just buy my shells in cases and usually get them on sale when buying FastSteel so I shoot what I'm confident in. _________________ $1,200 Shotgun, $1,000 Decoys, $520 Duck & Goose Calls, $150 Layout Blind, $75. Cent Shotgun Shell.....Clicking away on the D90....Priceless

For ducks normally use remington sportsmans 2 3/4 2's _________________ If you have the right decoy spread you really don't need to call. |

Confetti loads. Sometimes when shooting xperts, you'll have some 'trash' come out of your barrel at the shot....probably just some pieces of the wad or paper maybe? It's weird though, if the pattern hits its mark there is still a dead bird when it's all said and done just like if it had been a $3 Hevi-Shot shell. Hmmmmm...... _________________ Tyler Miller
