Default Pro-Drive 36 theft deterrence

I just upgraded to a 1960 Phowler MV with a 36 Pro-Drive. What is the most effective way to lock the motor to the hull to deter theft?

Through transom bolts with end threads on bolts peened. Won't stop a thief with a portable disc grinder, but will slow him up some.

I've got it bolted on. The problem with peening threads is I have to fight it in the future too.

At least it is heavy.

It would be easier for them to steal the whole boat and all.

I would think just the weight alone would be a deterrent...But bolt thru should keep most people honest. Kinda like a deadbolt on a door. If somebody wants in a deadbolt will do little to stop them. And I install them almost weekly. One good hard kick and that steel door sammiched over a wood frame will split in half and in they go

For better and worse a zip wheel is the universe's master key. If somebody really wants your stuff bad enough they're going to take it, make sure it's insured and secure enough to deter thefts of opportunity. If you're nervous put one of the outdoor nest cameras on your house pointed at it, $200 buys me a lot of peace of mind at my place.

Put a two inch longer bolt through the transom drill a hole through the end of the bolt so you can put a padlock through it that will lock the nut on

That's what they usually do.

Kinda what I thought too!!lol But no in all reality I've seen boats that the owner locked them in solid with padlocks and extra long bolts and the thief just cut the transom. So if someone wants it that bad they're gonna get it.

If a guy wants your motor and he's big enough, even if he has a buddy helping, to carry it away, DON'T! mess with him. He's gotta be one bada$$ dude!
