I voted no, but I feel that if they go out on strike and a replacement is hired that they don't automatically get their jobs back.

Why take away bargaining rights? This is the only means a public employee has
to trying to be treated fairly in my opinion.

State employees need a union for what? How poorly they are treated by the state? Unions today kinda make sense when they are working for companies trying to maximize profit, and I mean kinda of...

But for the local or federal government, hell no...

I am not a state employee, but do work alongside many. If they're going to go after the bargaining rights, they might as well just toss out chapter 20 entirely. State workers gave up the ability to strike in exchange for bargaining rights in the 70's -- I believe it was to prevent the ongoing teacher strikes. If the bargaining is a problem, scratch the whole thing. State jobs are attractive because of the longevity and the benefits -- certainly not the pay (ask any teacher). If you take away those perks, expect the quality state employees to move into the private sector where they will be rewarded and you'll be left with the unmotivated employees who you were trying to ditch in the first place.

Many, not all, state employees are not motivated. They are there for the benefits and security of the job backed by the union. Our educational system in the USA has drastically gone down hill. Most of the schools have turned into daycare centers. Other branches of the Government have done the same and you are all aware of it. If most, if not all sectors of the govt. were privatized they would be more efficient and probably at least break even if not show a profit. Unions had their day, I even negotiated a couple contracts in my younger days, but today I do not believe they are needed.

Most state employees wouldn't survive in the private sector

Most private sector workers wouldn't last a week in education.

They wouldn't let them outsource to China or go bankrupt so the go to moves of big business wouldn't apply.

Treated Fairly? It's America people, if you don't think your employer is treating you fairly go find a better employer. No one is stopping you!

I have been working since graduating college without union representation for 28 years, and guess what? I don't need union help or want it...

The unions would have you believe that all of sudden the government is going to overrun the good guys. They will treat them like crap, start demanding 90 hour weeks and slash wages in half. Thats crap... the only people the unions help are democratic politicians and the bosses who make 5-6 times what the members do.

This is the other huge point they miss. I am fine with private sector unions. Frankly, most the time they price themselves out of the market, but that is their choice. They can choose to get a cut of the profits from a private business, but it is at their own risk.

Public sector unions have no place. There is no PROFIT. The "profit" is all of our tax dollars.
