Default Predator fuel starvation

Buddy of mine has the 23 hp Predator on a long shaft. The engine keeps cutting out at high RPM or under load. Is it recommended to put an electrical fuel pump on these to stop this from happening. I have a Honda 24 HP on my Beavertail long shaft. I was told to run the oil a shade low as the oil pump created a vacuum on the fuel flow. I do this and do not have a problem with the engine cutting out. Any tips with the Predator? He tried the less oil trick and does not resolve the fuel starvation.

if you think it is starving for fuel; try running it at WOT with someone pumping the primer bulb. this will force fuel to the motor rather than depending on the fuel pump to "pull it" If this solves the starving issue; then an electric fuel pump will solve the issue. My buddy had the same issue with a large HP longtail and solved it with the electric pump.

I had to install a electric fuel pump on mine for the same reason.

Afew things you might check. Try running a hose directly from fuel pump to a fuel source bypassing any inline fittings. More fittings in fuel line more chances of a air leak. Get rid of squeeze bulb and quick disconnect tank fittings. If fuel tank is several feet away from motor use a larger fuel hose 5/16 or 3/8 to fuel line filter. If squeeze bulb was used to prime carb a lot the diafram, in fuel pump may be stretched or cracked. They operate on very low vacumm. And can be damaged by over pumping bulb. If motor has a seal leaking at crank shaft motor will struggle to create enough vacumm to operate fuel pump. Hondas are notorias for this. Why the fix is a electric fuel pump.

I'm having the same issue with my 20 hp Honda. Do any of you have a model or store you got your pump from?

I'd try Amazon.com to see what is offered in low pressure in line fuel pumps. Once a pump manufacture is figured out, I'd call around to the local auto parts stores and see what they carry. Might get lucky.
