I've used Tritronics beeper collars for years and have had good luck with them, never had to shock a dog though, I figure if I have to go that route, I either chose the wrong breed/breeder, or I haven't spent enough time with the dog.

I have 2. An older tritronics that works well, just has a big remote. Other model is a sport dog and I do like the small remote and the lanyard. Seems to have more than enuf power to get the command reinforcement also. I thought I had lost the remote and they no longer make this model and much like PB, they offered a helluva loyalty deal even though I bought it used. Luckily I didn't lose it, somehow it ended up in my wife's winter coat pocket...thank god for a 9 a.m. softball game with a temp of 38°

This is a shame to hear. TriTronics is what I've used since my first retriever 15 years ago. Still have that collar, and it still works great.

I suspect when the time comes, I'll give SportDog a chance. I know their collars were suspect a few years ago, and I haven't used a new model myself, but their design changes appear to be working well. I also really like that small remote design.

I started out with a Tri Tronics judge in the 90's later traded up to a field 90 2 dog that thing ate controller batteries, couldn't keep a charge for more than a day. TT customer service was very helpful sent new batteries and charger. looked to trade up again and garmin bought TT. No more tradins. I talked to a Rep. at a PF show and got a 30% off code. I picked up the Pro 550 and an extra collar for less than the cost of the single unit. Sold the field 90. out of pocket was $100 can't complain about the Pro 550 so far. Still in it's first season.

Sure you are going to hear as many thoughts on this as there are on where the migration is or isn't. I go with the Garmin Delta XC
. No bark limiter but that is not an issue with my springer. Rarely do i use anything other than the beep as a correction. I am sure alot of it goes into what your dog requires to be reminded. I have little need for nicking but it is there when I absolutely do. Gun Dog Supply has a ton of tutorials and ideas that I used to make my decision. My Garmin has held up great in water and the field and has solid battery life. $169.00 at GDS.
