In far southwest Iowa, just east of the Missouri River, duck numbers were nothing to shout about in the 4 hours after 0630 ... less than 700 would catch it. Some divers, grey ducks, very few Mallards, no Canadas or other geese. Sky was clear, 30 degrees, 17 knots out of the Northwest. Still good water on the public ground - enough for about 5 groups I would think. I would think that very good hunters could get mixed limits - if they are all
"in-place" well before LST.

Watched a very mediocre 4X4 tend a doe; saw 7 roosters.

=======================

Cooper Creek (southeast of Percival, IA) would be "iffy" ... there is water and from the air, there may be more than can be seen from the road.

Forney is a bust - way too much vegetation to get out beyond the boat unload area. Pumps are OFF.

Mitigated areas north of Highway 2 and northeast of Nebraska City - promising and huntable.

Be safe ... enjoy these days and take along a youth, a lady ... or an old man! Hunters' Luck!

I didn't go this morning, inventory day at work.

I'll be there in the morning even though I don't expect much. But you don't know unless you go.

The next full moon should provide a much needed push! That or they are all where Howard hunts...

Soon enough. All the sloughs that aren't a couple acres big are frozen

Very slow at Henderson marsh tonight. No new birds, plenty of coots.

We had a great week on divers, it's hard to tell if they are new or just moving around. Lots of gads and widgeon but very educated.
