Default Teal Push

Just looking at the forecast upcoming.

Highs in the 60's and Lows in the 40's all up through Canada the next couple days.

Aberdeen

High of 72 Thursday, a Low of 47 Thursday night/Friday Morning
Friday is a High of 69 with a Low of 47 Again Friday Night/Saturday Morning.
Accompanied by NNW winds 15-25 mph Thursday into Thursday Night/Friday Morning.

I dont like to get my hopes up too soon but that looks like some teal pushing weather. I would look for some new birds in the area Friday morning.

Taking oldest daughter to her first IA Football game this weekend, but will still make it out to see if there are any teal around.

Got a call from a buddy in Texas and he said they are covered up in BW teal now. Looks like we missed the flight, might as well go dove hunting.

Do teal really move through your area this early? We shoot teal here until late October and its not unheard of to shoot them into November.

99% blue wings early . We shot mostly green wings from say the middle of Oct to middle of Nov.
There are some teal that have made it to Louisiana and Texas by now. Most years on regular early opener most of the BWs are well past here. Who knows maybe this they'll be behind schedule.

That's so weird that your teal move out so fast and the ones here stay put for so long.

BL Hunter, are the teal that you are shooting in Oct & November Blue wings or green wings? I am assuming that they are GW's being as they are one of the later birds to push down.

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but the subject species is blue wing teal... and I'll be first to say... no, you do not have huge concentrations of bwt in mid october. Green wings? Yes, very large concentrations. I saw it first hand last year. Couldn't keep those little bastards off us on a few hunts. Quite impressive I might add. We couldn't help ourselves and decided to let a few flocks have it after watching them all morning.

As said before, most have well gone past us by the time of our "regular" season opener. Its not uncommon to shoot bwt throughout October, and a few in Nov.. but the majority are long long gone by then.
