Guys the peak has been here and has past. It peaked 2 weeks ago. There will be no more big pushes this year... All we will do is loose our refuge birds which are stale anyway. Next week we will freeze up anyway so I'm going to wrap things up this week.

There's not much for ducks south of I90. Few snows moving now and a handful of canadas moved down the river from Pierre. Oh yea ... it's also about 50 here in SE SD.

Please tell me this is sarcasm. We havnt had a solid freeze yet. And like condn said. In states where we get some of our birds from it's 50 degrees. There are plenty of birds to be had. Everybody just hang on a little longer.

I will confirm that you are well past a big push of mallards. We lost a lot of birds in ne sd, still have decent numbers but between last Saturday and this Saturday, numbers are down probably 50% or more. 50% of a shitload is still a shitload.

I am not going to bet on seeing any strong push of birds till season is over for the north zone. It could happen, but the outlook is sad.

30's and upper 20's isn't going to move stubborn mallards from single counties that have more water and food than all of iowa. It's going to take snow to move the rest of the mallards down to you guys.

There is some sarcasm, but we have seen peak last week. Will we get more ducks??? there are some left to come I do believe. But next week it looks like a lot of areas could freeze up around here if the weather channels are correct. Which will make field hunters happy happy happy......

Just check the upper wind maps and the calendar and you will see why ducks will be migrating this week. Also, I don't need thousands to make me happy. Just new decoyable ones. I was scouting this afternoon and saw zero so they are waiting for we hunters to be out tomorrow. Too bad for those that have to work.

Being this late a lot of birds north of us will just over shoot us when they do move. Just check everyday at http://hint.fm/wind/ and get use to using the good radars to see bird movement. You can't tell what kind of bird but at least something is triggering something to move. That helps a lot. Or just use my method and go whenever and as often as you can. Just enjoy all this while you can. It won't be available for much longer.

I'm going on Monday. At least there won't be ice. It might just be a teal morning, but if a flight of mallards wants to play, I'm going to get medieval on them...
