Too many people out!

I got there at 3:00 AM Saturday and left at 3:01 AM. Too many people there for me to try it. Went for an afternoon hunt yesterday and took home 2 greenheads and 2 drake gaddys.

shot 35 ducks in two days (as a group) up here in SD. heard of many limits in the cornfields on greenheads.

Can't complain about that! I didn't see any birds migrating while we were pheasant hunting.

But a few larger ponds looked to be holding some ducks...mainly locals (at least appeared that way).

I guess I need to get to SD...too bad I didn't enter my name in to the draw! I guess I'll just have to sneak in and out without anyone noticing me...I'll check to see if Wal-Mart has a Jeff Foiles Mask to be incognito!

Yeah, the place has been like a zoo this year. Worse than ever before. The only time I have got to hunt there was last Thursday. It was packed again yesterday so I went to Weise in the afternoon. I've hunted Cone for over 30 years and have never seen so many boats there by midnight other than opening weekends. Usually 4:00 AM is a safe time to get there and still get the spot you want but, not this year. It's turning into Odessa!

I skipped Saturday but went out Sunday morning. Only seen 1 flock over 7 birds and that was about 20 GW. Granted it was a slow day so I sat back and picked off singles all morning. Mallards, GW's and a Ruddy. Can't say I'm to proud on the Ruddy but its the first one I've ever seen so another species checked off the list. Seen spoonies, gads and woodies out there as well but no signs at all of a push. All local birds aside from the GW's.

Shooting Mallards, GW, a BW, and ruddy duck down in SW Iowa along the Missouri. No Significant amout of new birds, but I'm sure there was some that moved farther south.

We saw alot more birds on Saturday than we had been seeing but they were still very shy. We shot 4 but missed just as many. Went back to the same spot on Sunday and didn't fire a shot. Still great to be out there!

Picked up my first Gadwall out with my father-in-law in Scott County. We both got drakes out of the same flock I believe. Other than that, saw the occasional wood duck flush for about 10-15 min after first shot time and then quiet enough to hear the turtle fart. Switched our camo and waders for some orange and brush pants, grabbed my dog and walked a few fields. Only jumped two hens. Heard quite a bit of shooting in the first hours for pheasant both mornings. Back at it this afternoon
