Check out Arnsen Surface drives. They run them on off shore powerboats with up to 2000hp blown big block chevys. That would really impress your buddies out on the marsh. would be kind of hard keeping camo on boat at 150+ mph. Also a bit hard on gas. You could have the guys custom build you a Phowler boat around the motor.
Our insight is this. If you are running mud 35 VG longtail is plenty.Openwater, run an outboard, as big as your rig will handle!!! www.explorebeavertail.com
I have a hard time thinking a 35 hp will be any good with my 20'72 on anything shallow. I could be wrong though. dont need to go flying across marshes but would be happy with 12-15 mph
Depending on what kind of boat it is a flat bottom, v nose etc and the load u have in the boat. A 35 HP would absolute fly across a place with a foot of water. That is if you have the right kind of boat for a mud buddy.
i went from a 2072 with a heavy permanent blind with a 150hp motor pushing it to an 1860 flat bottom with a 36hp prodrive. i was impatient with the top end speed but loved the better access to some secluded spots it gave me when public hunting. i put the stage 1 upgrade on it and that helped, but its just a trade off in my opinion. im not sure i would want to be in a boat with a 150hp surface drive......well, maybe just once to say i did!!
