Default Shot Detector

Ok ladies and gentleman, I need some help finding a shot detector. I have seen them before, they look like a small handheld price scanner. Cabela's had them at one time, but they couldn't find it in the system. I would like to get one for the upcoming snowgoose season. Or if anyone has any other suggestions for finding the steel shot in goose breasts, please leave a comment. I have looked at a lot of different sites but not finding it. Any help would be great, thanks!

find the entry/exit wounds and cut off those portions. even if the scanner thing shows you the pellets, it won't remove all the bits of feathers and bloodshot meat.

First you have to hit them before you can use that on them though Birch.

Industrail strength magnet, mine will often pull the pellet right through the meat on the way out. Do not allow a sharpe knife to get within a coulple feet of it, or maybe not even in the same room.

I've got one but it doesn't work. I can find a shot on the counter but lay a thin strip of meat over it I can't locate it. Occationally I can find a shot in a breast if I know it is there.

it depends on how you are preparing the meat....i always cut in small pieces or strips and if there is any shot in the meat you can usually see the hole or some feathers in the meat. if you are leaving them as whole breasts you amy need to do a little recon for the shot though, not sure how well those things work....been a long time since i've had any shot get un-noticed and bite into one. not something i want to repeat, that's fo sho!!! didn't feel good chompin down on steel

Thanks Bullcan, that's what i was looking for. And Condn, i wanted it for finding any breasts that may have shot in them. We will be using a bird hitch bird cleaner this year. Was thinking that this way we could sort out the one's that have shot in them and use a magnet to help remove them. The ones that don't have any shot we can bag up right away.
