weve Used a window motor or a wiper motor out of a car and a little bit of quarter inch steel to make a mounting box for the motor and 1/4 inch rod(maybe a little thicker) to hold the decoys then like 1 inch square tube for the main pole.... not bad to make just need a decent welder... Youll also have to make some sort of piece to mount the poles to the motor... I think thats what your wanting....

1/4" cold rolled steel bar inside of square tubing...slides in and out for a max width of almost 16 feet

if you go to my album "snow goose pics" there is a pic of the "vortex" that the guide built himself... not all that great of a pic but gives a guy an idea... when they were both put up they held 6 birds each, plus a 7th one on top that was stationary. both ran on 12 volt batteries and were belt driven. from a distance they looked awesome!!! up close they just went in circles of course but at 50-100 yards it made it look like the birds were swirling up and down...

sorry i dont have a better pic, and dont know how to post it on here from my album lol

Thank you ; I enjoy building some of my own hunting equipment. I hope it gives off some ideas to those wanting to build there own Vortex`s. The one pictured is a four arm model that uses a Mopar wiper motor . The Chrysler motors are powerful and robust . They are also cheap. They come on a multitude of models . Mini Vans, Durangos etc. I purchased the one pictured off Ebay new $ 35.00 . Look under " Mopar Wiper Motor Items." The pic belows shows it wired to the control box . The control box contains a Bakatronics 30A speed control and a Logisys 12V remote control. Since I use it exclusively for field hunting ducks set-up is not as bad . The vortex I have found is a powerful tool for hunting ducks in dry field enviorments . I can set the battery at the base of the stand and use the remote to turn it on and off from my layout blind. Stick one of these in your goose spread and watch those hungry Mallards beat a path to your door.

I don't know what I am more impressed with; the workmanship or the cleanliness of the wiring.
